Interventional radiology

Interventional radiology is a medical field that combines imaging with minimally-invasive procedures (that do not require surgery) for diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.

This combination enables complex procedures with minimal invasion into the body, by various catheterizations that are usually performed through the blood vessels.

Through the introduction of advanced imaging such as US, x-ray, magnetic resonance, and others, the interventional radiologist can see into the patient's body and accurately treat medical conditions that, until recently, required complex surgical procedures.

Most of the procedures are performed through a tiny incision through the skin, measuring only a few mm, under local anesthesia. Thus, hospitalization time is decreased, recovery is much faster, risks of complications are lower, and lives are saved.

Angio Center is unlike other medical centers in Israel. This center focuses on innovation and offers a comprehensive treatment plan to patients of all insurance companies and HMOs.

Medical Procedures Performed by Interventional Radiology

  • Catheterization of venous and arterial blood vessels for diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.
  • Vascular catheterization in order to reach organs and treat them.
  • Focal needle insertion to organs for obtaining biopsies or other focused treatment.
  • Insertion of various catheters (dialysis, IV feeding tube, antibiotic administration, chemotherapy, etc.).

Cancer

Treatment of different kinds of cancer – diagnostic biopsies, insertion of tubes for prolonged venous access (Port-a-cath and PICC lines) as well as treating the tumors with ablation or embolization.

  • Treatment of renal cancer – RCC – renal cell carcinoma.
  • Treatment of liver cancer – HCC – hepatocellular cancer.
  • Treatment of hepatic metastases.

Treatment of Dialysis Patients, Urinary Tract and Kidneys

Dialysis patients – tunneled dialysis catheter placement (Permacath) and routine treatment of shunts.

Treatment of kidneys and urinary tract – nephrostomy tube placement, nephro-ureterostomy, and stent placement along the urinary tract to treat obstructions and narrowing (including in transplanted kidneys) and ablation of primary RCC type renal tumors.

Treatment of Liver and Bile Duct Diseases

Treatment of bile duct obstructions, various treatments of primary liver lesions and liver metastases, portal HTN and palliative treatment of transplanted liver.
